Refrigerant slowly evaporates even from an intact system. For most cars, service every 2–3 years is sufficient. If the system has noticeably weakened, don’t wait: the compressor can be strained if there’s too little refrigerant and the oil circulating with it.

AC service starts from 79 euros. The price is most affected by the refrigerant type: older cars use R134a, while newer ones use R1234yf, which is significantly more expensive. The quantity also varies by car and is usually indicated on a sticker under the hood.
If the system is leaking, refilling is not recommended before repair. We will quote the repair cost separately.
Many people turn off their AC in the fall. However, the system functions better when used regularly, as the oil circulating with the refrigerant lubricates the compressor and seals.
In winter, the AC also dries the cabin air, so frost clears from windows faster.
The workshop is in Palokka, at Varastotie 4 D. It’s about 7 kilometers from Jyväskylä city center, 11 from Vaajakoski, and 17 from Tikkakoski. Without traffic, the drive from the center takes a good ten minutes.

For most cars, service every 2–3 years is sufficient. Refrigerant slowly evaporates even from an intact system, and efficiency decreases unnoticed. If the airflow no longer cools properly, don't delay service.
When the AC is on, the air coming from the vents should be noticeably cooler than the outside air after just a few minutes of driving. If the air is lukewarm or the windows fog up easily, there's likely too little refrigerant. We measure the vent temperature during service.
AC service at BX-Motors starts from 79 euros. The price is affected by the type and quantity of refrigerant. Newer cars use R1234yf refrigerant, which is more expensive than the R134a used in older cars.
AC service takes about an hour and a half. Most of that time is spent on system evacuation, leak testing, and refilling.
The odor usually comes from moisture and bacteria accumulated in the evaporator. Simply replacing the refrigerant won't remove it; cleaning or disinfection is needed.
Evacuation reveals leaks. If one is found, we will tell you the repair cost before refilling anything, because refrigerant in a leaking system will just escape.
