Grinding often means the pads are worn out and metal is rubbing against the disc. At that point, just replacing the pads is no longer enough; the discs will also need to be replaced. The sooner you come in, the cheaper it will be.

Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air, and moist fluid boils more easily during heavy braking. The pedal can then go all the way to the floor. Many manufacturers recommend replacement every two years. We check it during every service.

If the disc thickness is below the manufacturer’s limit or there are deep grooves in the surface, the discs are replaced at the same time. Otherwise, only the pads are replaced.
